The Castle is a typical fortified castle built on an elevated site and the largest ruins in Pinzgau. Since the 12th century it has been a site of historic, artistic and cultural significance. Today the Castle Association and the Cultural Association are responsible for the preservation of the Castle. The building dates back to the 12th century.
Restoration of the Castle began at the end of the seventies after numerous sections of it were in danger of falling down. Today the annual Castle Festivals are a crowd magnet in the region.
