to Tauern Cycle Path Service for 2011 season!
We are delighted that you are interested in the beautiful holiday region along the banks of the Salzach and Saalach rivers at the foot of the "Hohen Tauern" and have lots of information to offer you:

Ice-blue glaciers, sky-high rock-faces over mountain pastures and forests, crystal clear lakes and wild streams offer visitors a mountain experience in breathtaking surroundings. Even though the highest mountain in Austria, the 3,798 metre high "Großglockner" cannot be reached by bike it fascinates all visitors alike.
The majestic mountain and glacial landscape of the “Hohen Tauern” forms the backdrop for the Tauern-cycle route. Despite the breathtaking alpine landscape to the left and right the route is surprisingly flat and can even be taken on by less experienced cyclists. From the mountains around the "Großglockner" the route continues on along the shore of the quiet Zeller Lake or along the wild Salzach River. You shouldn’t miss the chance to visit the powerful Krimmler Waterfall, for the frozen underworld of the Werfen Ice Caves and the unique 360°-Panorama from the "Schmittenhöhe". Then the route continues on past the Watzmann into the alpine foothills.
On a tour along the Tauern cycle path you shouldn’t miss the culinary and cultural delights of Salzburg. Those who have been conscientious cyclists needn’t have any guilty conscience when they are indulging themselves with the sweet highlights of the city of Mozart, whether it be "Mozartkugeln" or "Salzburger Nockerln". Both bring tears to the eyes of those who are counting calories – but they bring wide smiles to the faces of all others! But Salzburg of course is not famous solely for its sweet treats. The entire old-town including the surrounding areas and hilltops were declared to be a World Heritage Site in 1996. The mixture of impressive religious and secular architecture, squares and laneways, castles and forts is unique. The Salzburg Cathedral, St. Peter, the Nonnberg Monastery, the Old and New Residence, Riding School and the famous Getreidegasse are only some of the important sites in the old-town under the majestic fort of Hohensalzburg, not to mention the numerous majestic castles, parks and gardens around Salzburg.
As you can see, there is a lot to discover along the Tauern cycle path. We are looking forward to hearing from you!
